CALL FOR ARTISTS

Defining the Mission:
A Live Art Installation

What is the Project?
This March the Four Rivers Cultural Center is looking for three local artists to join us for an exciting new program, Art After Dark, geared specifically towards our Members and their families. FRCC staff and the Malheur community will be celebrating the impact of the arts! We need creative and community-oriented artists who want to share their love of the creative process to participate in a live installation piece that defines our mission in our favorite way–with the visual arts!

Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for artists who can work well in a community space, answering questions about their work and their process while they collaborate. This is a community event and will be open to the public. Our hope, and in fact we will encourage, people to engage with you about your work, ask you questions and in the process learn more about the arts and the amazing artists right here in Malheur County!

What Kind of Art?
Live Installation pieces should fall under the visual arts category. Paintings, oil, sketches, etc.

When is the event?
March 18th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., you will be expected to be available for the duration of the event.

What is the Cultural Center’s Mission?
Here at the Four Rivers Cultural Center, our mission is to unite our community through the celebration and education of diversity and culture by providing access to the arts, culture, education, and history.

Submission Deadline & Expectations
In order to be considered for the gallery installation please email a sample of at least four pieces of your current work and a proposal for how you will convey our mission through your work to development@4rcc.com by March 1st. Images should be a clear resolution, a depiction of your creative style, and the vision you will bring to this project.
If you are chosen to participate in the live installation project you will be notified by Friday, March 4th, and an FRCC staff member will contact you with further details about the day of the event, expectations of your commission (included required materials) and your contract.

 Compensation
This is a live installation piece that requires a time commitment and an understanding of our mission and brand, because you will have to physically be in the space the Cultural Center will compensate you for your time in the amount of $150. Fifty percent will be paid once you have been commissioned and your proposal accepted and fifty percent once you have completed the work. The final check will be given at the end of the night on March 18th, following the close of the gallery.

The Completed Commission
We are thrilled to be supporting local artists and just as excited to have our mission come to life through your creativity–the compensation listed above will cover the cost of your completed commission and that artwork will then be hung in FRCC’s Harano Gallery following Art After Dark’s close.

Publicity
This program will be great FREE publicity and we encourage you to bring your business cards and other promotional materials to give out to interested community members.
