In this contemporary musical comedy, a popular high school basketball star and a shy, academically gifted newcomer discover they share a secret passion for singing. When they sign up together to audition for the lead roles in the school musical, it threatens East High’s rigid social order and sends their peers into an uproar.
Disney Channel’s smash hit movie musical comes to life on our stage! Troy, Gabriella, and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends, and family while balancing their classes and extra curricular activities.
It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations, and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock Troy discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical, led by Ms. Darbus. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.
Disney’s High School Musical is fun for the whole family.
Four Rivers Community Theater program is one of our largest youth programs. Throught the year we offer opportunites for our area youth to perform in open air stage performances. Many of our productions incorporate all ages from K-21. Kids who have access to theatre and art are more likely to score higher on verbal and math portions of their SAT’s. Art has beneficial impacts on brain and congnitive skills, critical thinking, and social and civic cohesion.
