Scott Kalama, known artistically as “Blue Flamez,” is a proud member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs and a dynamic hip-hop artist.
By day, Scott Kalama serves as a certified prevention specialist, guiding youth and spreading awareness about substance abuse. His musical alter ego, Blue Flamez, channels his experiences and convictions into his art, advocating for Native rights and empowerment through songs like “Warrior.”
His music, at first glance, fits the hip-hop mold with its rapid-fire rap, electronic beats, and memorable hooks. Yet, it’s the substance of Blue Flamez’s lyrics that sets him apart, rooted in his upbringing on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation. His track “Rez Life” not only resonates with his heritage but also earned him a Native American Music Award in 2016.
Blue Flamez’s verses are a powerful homage to Native American heritage, confronting historical wounds and the ongoing challenges faced by Indigenous communities, including his own.
Now, with a platform to share his unique perspective and inspiring messages, Kalama is poised to reach and uplift a broader audience with his music.
