Explore local and Oregon history through the remarkable life of Eva Castellanoz, a Mexican American healer, artist, educator, and advocate for immigrant rights.

The Crown Maker is a world-premiere opera inspired by the life and legacy of a woman whose work made a lasting impact on communities in our region. Blending music, poetry, history, and storytelling in the tradition of a corrido, the production introduces students to themes of cultural heritage, identity, immigration, resilience, community leadership, and belonging.

Through Castellanoz’s story, students can explore how art, cultural traditions, healing practices, and grassroots leadership can strengthen communities and carry knowledge from one generation to the next.
