This traditional religious holiday and folk festival combines Buddhist beliefs and Japanese culture in a memorial celebration. It is a time when everyone is happy and dancing with joy showing their appreciation for all the good things in life we have as a result of the loved ones who have passed away. Obon is a “FESTIVAL OF JOY”.

Dinner is served from 5:00 PM
while supplies last.

DEMONSTRATIONS:
6:00 PM Sangha Taiko Performance
6:30 PM Park Ranger Emily Teraoka, Minidoka Internment Site (north side of big tent)
7:00 PM BON ODORI (DANCE) (south side of big tent)
You are all invited to JOIN in the DANCING.  All of the dances are very easy so join in the fun.  The last dance is the COAL MINER’S DANCE.  See how they dig coal, load it into a cart, and push it on its way.

-Bon Odori no Uta
-Tanko Bushi
