Journey From the Dust is a powerful live, multimedia performance that brings the Dust Bowl and Great Depression to life for today’s students. Through an engaging solo actor paired with rare archival film, students follow the journey of a young man forced to leave his Oklahoma home and rebuild his life in the Pacific Northwest.
This program connects directly to U.S. history, migration, agriculture, and themes of resilience. Students witness the real hardships families faced during drought, economic collapse, and environmental disaster—and how hope carried communities forward.
Presented in partnership with Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, this Living Voices performance gives schools an unforgettable, personal lens into one of the most challenging chapters in American history.
