Here at the Four Rivers Cultural Center it is our mission to unite our community around our unique differences, and we believe that when we celebrate our cultural heritage we create connections that bring us together! That’s why on September 18th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m we will be hosting our ninth annual Mexican Independence Day Celebration, saluting one of the core heritages that make up the Four Rivers Region today! 

Every year people across the globe celebrate Mexico’s Independence from Spanish rule on September 16th, the anniversary of El Grito de Delores, the cry that inspired the movement that freed Mexico from Spanish rule! Here at FRCC we will celebrate the holiday with FREE fun family activities, including traditional arts and crafts, Folkloric dancers, a live mariachi band– and of course–food! 

What to Expect: 

• From 2:00 – 5:00 we will have arts and crafts, face painting, piñatas, Lotteria and other programs for the whole family to take part in. 
• From 3:00-5:00 we will have performances– a Mariachi band and Folkloric dancers and the Mexican Consulate from Boise will provide the Grito, a traditional presentation about Independence Day. 
• Many organizations will be here to provide information and consult with attendees about health insurance, fair housing, education issues, immigration issues, family assistance and more! 
  •  In attendance will be:
    •  OHDC, IRCO, Immigrant Justice Idaho, Blessed Sacrament Prayer Group, Council on Aging and Community Services, Euvalcree, Treasure Valley Community College, Tri-County Anti-Trafficking Task Force, ODHS, and the Ontario School District.
