Charcoal Expressions Art Show Opening

Charcoal Expressions Art Show Gallery Opening

6 PM- 8 PM

May 24- June 24

TVCC Art professor Tammy Kinney says, “ I was talented at one thing growing up and that was drawing. All of my interest was learning about art and the culture of other areas in the world.”  Art is one of the universal languages all human beings understand and use to communicate. We use art to understand who we are, our place in the world, and the meaning of our lives. We use art to express ourselves and to speak to others across time and place. Human beings have an essential drive to create and understand visual imagery.  This drive is one of the basic traits that make us human.  Tammy has had many instructors throughout her life that have had a true passion for what they do and it has inspired her to teach art. She has  had the pleasure of being able to teach art and art history to all ages of student for the last 30 years. Ten of these years have been with Treasure Valley Community college where she has taught Introduction to art, design and all levels of drawing.

The work shown at Four Rivers Cultural Center is the result of Kinney teaching charcoal drawing during fall, winter and Spring quarter to her Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Drawing students at Treasure Valley Community College. All of this work produced by her students are 12×12 charcoal pieces mounted on cradle board. Tammy currently hold a Master’s Degree in Education from College of Idaho and has shown her work throughout Oregon and Idaho.  This exhibit will be posted until June 24
